Savanna "Sogno Due" Falanghina 2005

A Christmas Eve tasting of our favorite white wine.

EXPERIENCE

The cork is a little funky, and the initial nose is very soft and mild. The first taste is smooth as silk and surprisingly full bodied. There is a balanced citrus finish, not too sweet or tart. As the wine opens up and warms it drinks more and more like a red... full-bodied and smooth throughout the tasting.

VERDICT

GREAT VALUE. The 2005 Songo Due cost right around $30, and is one of the most interesting and enjoyable whites we've ever had. Perfect for the red wine enthusiast who wants to branch out into whites.

FACTS

This wine is 100% falanghina, classified IGT, and comes from Campania. There isn't much information on Savanna's website, but according to our research the wine is made by well-known Italian winemaker Roberto Cipresso.
